Seeking Te Tiriti Partnerships Lead
Key Information:
Permanent role for 32 hours per week
Location:
Wellington – Te Whanganui-a-Tara
The opportunity:
InsideOUT Kōaro is looking for a Te Tiriti Partnerships Lead to strengthen how Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori and takatāpui inclusion are embedded across our organisation.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the development of our Te Tiriti Action Plan, strengthen culturally grounded systems and practices, and help ensure cultural insights, risks and opportunities inform organisational decisions. You will also coordinate tikanga, reo and cultural advisory requests, and support safe pathways to the right knowledge holders.
You will also nurture relationships with Māori organisations, communities, iwi, hapū, takatāpui networks and cultural advisors, where these relationships align with strategic priorities and capacity.
What you’ll bring:
- a strong grounding in tikanga, reo Māori and kaupapa Māori
- a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to translate commitments into organisational practice
- lived experience as takatāpui
- experience supporting cultural or Tiriti-based organisational change
- sound judgement about when to provide guidance, seek advice or refer a request
- experience working respectfully with Māori advisory, governance or community accountability structures
- strong relational skills and confidence navigating complex or sensitive kōrero
- the ability to communicate Te Ao Māori concepts clearly and accessibly
- experience working in mental health and wellbeing, education, youth development and/or organisational development.
This is not a role expected to hold all cultural knowledge or responsibility alone. You will work alongside Māori-led structures, knowledge holders, external advisors, staff, leadership and with our Board to build shared capability and accountability across InsideOUT Kōaro.
This role is based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington.
Reports to the Chief Executive.
