Seeking Kaitautoko Takatāpui Kura Kaupapa

InsideOUT Kōaro is a growing organisation that works to support rangatahi, whānau, kura, community groups, youth services, government agencies and other relevant organisations to help create safer and more inclusive communities for all rainbow and takatāpui rangatahi.
We are seeking a new Kaitautoko Takatāpui Kura Kaupapa to provide support to Māori-medium schools nationwide. This is a permanent, part-time role for 8 hours per week. You will need to have some regular flexible availability during school hours (8am – 4pm Monday to Friday). You will need to be fluent in te reo Māori (written and spoken) for the nature of the role.
You will be responsible for:

- Managing and developing InsideOUT Kōaro’s relationship with Kura Kaupapa Māori; Māori-medium schools and mainstream schools nationwide.
- Developing training and resources for Kura Kaupapa Māori; Māori-medium schools; mainstream schools and educators.
This will include:

- Providing support to kura through resources, professional development training
- Providing advice over phone, e-mail, and in-person as required.
- Providing reports on the progress of your work as necessary and maintaining a database of your interactions with kura.
Ideally, the successful applicant will:

- Be competent in te reo Māori
- Be experienced at building relationships in kaupapa Māori settings
- Have a practical toolkit of time, task and self-management skills
- Demonstrate outstanding knowledge of the challenges faced by takatāpui and rainbow rangatahi
- Have experience in facilitation (previous experience working with young people and schools is strongly desired)
- Be self-motivated and an effective communicator
- Work to uphold the vision and values of InsideOUT Kōaro. This includes a strengths based approach to youth work.
From time to time additional hours may be available to support the delivery of rainbow competency training outside of schools. The hours in the position may grow in future depending on the outcomes in the role and funding available to us.
We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and honouring mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori. Kaimahi Māori at InsideOUT Kōaro are supported by our Kaihāpai Takatāpui and offered support in monthly check-ins and in-person hui where possible.
A restricted or full drivers license and own vehicle is required as this role requires travel within the wider region.
You must be comfortable working independently, however you will be part of a team that connects online and in person at least twice a year.
