Part-time; fixed-term contractor initially until June 2022

InsideOUT Kōaro is a national youth charity seeking a Pacific Rainbow Competency Coordinator to lead the development, booking and delivery of training to Pasifika organisations in the Mental Health and Addictions sector. This is part of a wider roll out of rainbow competency training to the mental health and addiction sector. You would be part of a small team within InsideOUT working in similar roles to coordinate and deliver training for tauiwi and kaupapa Māori services.

The first few months in the role will be spent on content development, involving the creation of a half-day workshop on rainbow competency for Pasifika services. After this, hours in the contract will be on a casual basis to suit the applicant for coordination and workshop delivery, within business hours. We are aware of at least 8 services that require the training, anticipated to be delivered between January-June 2022, of which we anticipate to make up at least 64 hours of further work. If you are interested in facilitating workshops in other settings too, more hours may be available. There is an opportunity for the contract to be extended with further casual hours for development available over the coming years.

Due to the nature of this role, we are seeking an applicant that identifies as part of both Pasifika and MVPFAFF/rainbow communities. This includes people that may identify with identities such as fa’afafine, fa’atama, mahu, vaka sa lewa lewa, palopa, akava’ine, fakaleiti (leiti), fakafifine, māhūkāne, rae rae, haka huahine as well as other identities. We are also interested in hearing from people that may be interested in casual workshop facilitation within Pasifika spaces for hours in 2022 and beyond.

InsideOUT is a growing organisation that works to support youth, whānau, schools, community groups, youth services, government agencies and other relevant organisations to provide safer schools and communities for rainbow young people. We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and honouring matauranga Maori and tikanga Māori and are happy to share more about our journey with this. We value whakawhanaungatanga and understand social change takes time, we support kaimahi to work in a way that feels genuine and culturally appropriate to them.
The successful applicant will have access to internal and external supervision, peer support with our team across Aotearoa and the opportunity to work with others from rainbow Pasifika communities.

We are looking for someone with superb organisational and communication skills and outstanding knowledge of the challenges faced by sexual, sex, and gender minorities. You will be confident at building relationships and working with external groups, particularly in Pasifika settings. Experience in project coordination, content development, facilitation and previous experience working in the Mental Health and Addictions sector are desired but not required. You are self-motivated with strong time management skills, and will work to uphold the vision and values of InsideOUT.
