Seeking new Communications Coordinator

InsideOUT Kōaro is a growing organisation that works with youth, whānau, schools, community groups, youth services, government agencies and other relevant organisations. Our mission is to help make Aotearoa safer and more inclusive for all rainbow, takatāpui and MVPFAFF+ people.

As InsideOUT’s Communications Coordinator you will be responsible for managing and overseeing our external communications, including our websites, media releases, and social media presence. You will assist with tasks such as copywriting, graphic design, photography and videography to enhance our communications.

It is our commitment to work to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and honour mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori in all areas of our mahi. We are looking for someone who not only shares these commitments, but can also demonstrate a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitingi and te ao Māori.

A successful applicant will:

  • Be passionate about InsideOUT’s mahi and rainbow inclusion
  • Have strong critical thinking and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have strong organisational and time management skills, initiative and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Have great interpersonal skills, including the ability to respond effectively to feedback and critique
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have an outstanding knowledge of rainbow communities and the challenges faced by sexual, sex, and gender minorities (further training can be provided)
  • Have a strong understanding of intersectionality, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori (a basic level of te reo Māori is desired)
  • A commitment to InsideOUT Kōaro’s responsibility to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all areas of our work.
  • Be experienced creating content using:
      • Image editing/graphic design software such as Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop) or Canva)
      • CSS/HTML, wordpress, other website editing tools
  • Be familiar and competent using:
      • Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Meta Business Suite)
      • Youtube
      • Google Suite
  • Have experience with graphic design, photography, videography (desired, but not required)
  • Have previous experience working in communications
