Seeking Operations and Engagement Lead

Full-time permanent employment: 40 hours (negotiable if someone wanted slightly less hours)

$63,000-75,000 salary range dependent on experience

Budget for professional development and external supervision, flexible hours and remote working options. InsideOUT Kōaro also provides a quarterly wellbeing allowance, wellbeing leave and paid Covid sick leave on top of other sick leave.

Desired location: Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington. This role may involve some travel from time to time.

As InsideOUT Kōaro’s Operations and Engagement Lead, you will oversee and support our communications, volunteer and community engagement team to deliver against our annual plan and strategy.

You will have responsibility for overseeing our submissions, advocacy and resources. You will assist the Managing Director and the Board with responsibilities to the wider InsideOUT Kōaro team through arranging organisation-wide professional development opportunities, supporting the development of policies and processes and health and safety compliance.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Direct management and support of our communications, volunteer and community engagement (3 permanent staff and occasional contractors) 
  • Supporting recruitment, hiring, induction, professional development, performance reviews and exit interviews for your team members 
  • Represent InsideOUT in external engagements with government as required
  • Lead submission writing for InsideOUT as required
  • Lead an annual review cycle of InsideOUT Kōaro resources, looking for opportunities to update resources, add new resources and partner with others on resources.
  • Coordinate organisation-wide professional development, with support from relevant staff where applicable
  • Assist in HR processes, including helping the organisation’s processes remain legally compliant, and ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Take part in relevant training, meetings or other tasks to support InsideOUT’s journey towards continuing to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Support InsideOUT and your team to deliver on the annual plan and strategic plan
  • Support the establishment of processes and procedures to help the organisation work effectively.

Experience required:

Essential Skills:

  • Able to self manage and take initiative
  • Administrative skills
  • Time management skills
  • Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent people skills, emotional intelligence, good judgement, ability to be calm and discrete 
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement/external relationship building 
  • Strong knowledge of rainbow communities and the challenges facing rangatahi in schools, including those at the intersections of different minority experiences
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi, mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori 
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback

Desired:

  • Management or leadership experience, ideally in a community setting
  • Experience with HR tasks
  • A proven ability to motivate and inspire staff 
  • Knowledge of schools/education sector
  • Experience using digital tools such as Google Suite, Zoom, Asana, Slack, Mailchimp, CRM or database systems
  • Experience with written reporting on your work 
  • Experience writing policies or process guidelines
  • Experience writing submissions and engaging with government
  • Facilitation experience
  • Familiarity with youth work in Aotearoa
