InsideOUT is a national organisation with the vision for all rainbow young people in Aotearoa New Zealand to have a sense of safety and belonging in their schools and communities.
We do this through providing a range of information, resources, training and support to schools, workplaces, government agencies, organisations, community groups, whānau and individuals, as well as running a number of youth development programmes.
To work with youth, whānau, schools, community groups, youth services, government agencies and other relevant organisations to provide safer schools and communities for rainbow (LGBTQIA+) young people.
To foster the building and provision of resources, education, information, hui and relevant tools which work to improve the health, wellbeing and safety of rainbow (LGBTQIA+) young people.
We are here to support young people with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, genderqueer, genderfluid, asexual, aromantic, takatāpui, whakawahine, tangata ira tane, fa’afafine, mahu, vakasalewalewa, palopa, akava’ine, fakaleiti,fiafifine and fakafifine identities as well as everyone in between, not sure or who prefers a different label or even none at all!
In 2019 InsideOUT was honoured to receive the Supreme Award at the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards – as one of 200 community groups nominated from around the Wellington region. InsideOUT also won the Child/Youth Education category at the awards in 2016 and 2019.
