Part-time; fixed-term initially until July 2022, Manawatū/Palmerston North based
Kia hiwa rā! E kimi ana mātou i tētahi kaimahi hou.
InsideOUT is a national youth charity seeking a Manawatū Schools Coordinator for 14 hours a month (average 3.5hrs per week) to support our growing work in Manawatū and Horowhenua schools. You will need to have some flexible availability during school hours (8am-4pm Monday to Friday) for this role and be comfortable working from home for the administrative part of the role.
You will be responsible for managing and developing InsideOUT’s relationships with schools and school groups in Manawatū and Horowhenua (Palmerston North and all townships within the Manawatū and Horowhenua District Council boundaries, the role does not include Whanganui). You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a regional network for schools with or wanting to start rainbow diversity groups/queer-straight alliances, known as Q’D UP Manawatu.
This will include planning and facilitating monthly meet-ups alongside volunteers and providing support to schools and school groups through resources, and advisement over phone, e-mail, and in-person as required. You will be expected to record details of your work as you go, and provide quarterly reports to the Managing Director on the progress of the project.
InsideOUT is a growing organisation that works to support youth, whānau, schools, community groups, youth services, government agencies and other relevant organisations to provide safer schools and communities for rainbow young people.
We are looking for someone with superb organisational and communication skills and outstanding knowledge of the challenges faced by sexual, sex, and gender minorities. Experience in facilitation and previous experience working with young people and schools is strongly desired. You are self-motivated with strong time management skills, and will work to uphold the vision and values of InsideOUT. This includes a strengths based approach to youth work.
We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and honouring matauranga Maori and tikanga Māori. Our preference is for someone who shares these commitments, and either has a strong understanding of te ao Māori, or is willing to learn.
A restricted or full drivers license and own vehicle is strongly desired for this position as the role will require travel within the Manawatū and Horowhenua regions, and to and from Wellington from time to time. You must be comfortable working independently, however there will be frequent contact available with local volunteers, our Schools Network Coordinator based in Palmerston North, our Managing DIrector and our team of Schools Coordinators based around Aotearoa. More information about the organisation is available on our website: http://www.insideout.org.nz/
This is a contract for fourteen hours a month up until July 2022, with the possibility of either the hours or the term increasing. The successful applicant will be paid above a living wage.
InsideOUT is an inclusive employer and we value diversity. Applications will be considered regardless of ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexuality, physical or mental ability. Work hours can be flexible.
